Bikeability – St. Bernadette’s
15 July 2019 @ 09:00 - 13:00
Get on your bike! As part of Middlesbrough Council’s push to get more people cycling more often, our team at Middlesbrough Environment City provide national standard Bikeability training to a number of schools across the area.
Bikeability training involves three levels of training, designed to get your child riding a bike and then further honing their skills in riding. Doing so allows them to remain safe and secure as they do so, and ensures that they can navigate the streets in minimal danger. Level 1 involves beginner techniques such as preparing for cycling, getting on and off the bike without help and pedalling before a controlled stop. Level 2 involves intermediate techniques such as starting and finishing an on-road journey, recognising hazards and passing parked vehicles and side roads. Level 3 involves more advanced techniques including advanced road positioning, passing queuing traffic, understanding driver blind spots and reacting to hazardous road surfaces.
Our team at the Middlesbrough Cycle Centre are fully accredited to provide Bikeability training, and use the Bike Academy to full effect for this purpose. Every child will be kept as safe as possible during the sessions, and will be trained by professional tutors who have many Bikeability sessions under their belts.
This session is for St. Bernadette’s Primary School in Nunthorpe.
