Middlesbrough Environment City Trust Ltd (MEC) takes the collection and use of your personal information seriously. MEC collects personal information itself and also receives it from other organisations. We use personal information for a various reasons as described below and sometimes have to pass it to other organisations. The person responsible for Data Protection and Confidentiality at MEC is the Director.
We collect personal information for a variety of reasons. Sometimes we need to collect it because the law requires us to do so. The most usual reason, however, is to show to the people who give us money to run activities that we have spent it properly. We may also need to collect your information so that we can contact you again, but will seek your consent for this.

The information you provide will be collected, transported and stored in a secure way. Storage may be electronically in “The Cloud” and this storage may be outside of the UK. We will tell you about this when we collect the information.
We will only give your information to a third party with your consent, unless we are required to do so by law or to fulfil a contract we have with you. We will be clear who we are sharing it with, why we are sharing it, how they will use it and how it will be stored and destroyed.
We will hold the information you provide for as short a period as possible and will destroy it securely. We will let you know when you provide the information how long this will be and how it will be destroyed. You can enquire about your information in a reasonable way, usually by letter or email. You may also request that it is destroyed. Sometimes this will not be possible for legal or other reasons.
Whilst we will usually seek your consent to use, store and share your data, we may be required to collect information without your consent.
